Key Responsibilities Assessment input to refine Strategy Roadmap: Conduct an overall assessment of current state to develop the comprehensive data governance strategy and execute an optimized roadmap aligned with business objectives and platform modernization goals.

Framework Design & Implementation: Implement and manage enterprise‑wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure data integrity, trust, security, and compliance.

Metadata Lineage Management: Drive advanced metadata management and data lineage capabilities primarily utilizing Alation Data Catalog to enhance data discovery transparency and traceability across all datasets.

Data Quality & Security Compliance: Lead initiatives to establish and enforce data quality standards, monitor key data quality metrics, and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal compliance requirements (e.g., GRC audits, GDPR, Works Council, CCPA).

Architectural Leadership: Architect robust data governance components and ensure architectural compliance with established data governance policies, standards, and frameworks.

Business‑Technical Liaison: Act as a critical liaison between business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, and technical teams (including IT Data Engineering and Analytics) to foster a data‑driven culture and ensure alignment on governance objectives.

Integration with Data Engineering: Collaborate closely with data engineering teams to embed data governance principles and processes directly into data pipelines and deployment cycles, ensuring governance by design.

Tooling Expertise: Maximize the utilization of Snowflake for data warehousing, analysis, and integration with governance tools; expertly manage and configure Alation for data cataloging, stewardship workflows, and metadata curation; develop API integrations for unification of multiple tooling.

Standards & Glossaries: Define processes to gather and maintain enterprise‑wide data standards, taxonomies, and business glossaries to promote a common understanding of data assets with continuous controls; develop strategies to compile existing taxonomy data dictionaries sporadically maintained in siloed sources (e.g., SharePoint, XLS) into a unified catalog for consumption.

Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs/OKRs) to measure the effectiveness and progress of data governance initiatives in an Agile fashion.

Training & Advocacy: Provide training, best‑practice sharing, and thought leadership on data governance concepts and tools to various organizational levels.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related field.

7+ years of progressive experience in data governance, data management, or related domains with a proven track record of leading significant initiatives (Snowflake experience required).

Deep hands‑on expertise with Alation Data Catalog, including setup, configuration, stewardship workflows, and metadata curation.

Strong understanding and practical experience with Snowflake, including schema design, query optimization, performance tuning, and governance integration within ETLs and modeling layers.

Experience in SCRUM/Agile environments with in‑depth knowledge of industry‑standard data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA‑DMBOK).

Solid understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).

Experience with data engineering platforms, ETL/ELT processes, and integrating governance into data pipelines.

Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Proven ability to bridge the gap between technical details and business requirements.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a strategic mindset.
