About the role Credo is seeking Senior System Application Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Jose. In this role, you will work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment focused on validating next-generation high-speed modules, including 400G, 800G, and 1.6T solutions.

You will be responsible for electrical validation, automation development, interoperability testing, and system-level debug, collaborating closely with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust performance across diverse operating conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Characterize TIA/EML/SiPho optical components, including TIA gain and bandwidth, AC response, and tuning bias current and thermal settings for laser and modulator optimization.

Develop automation scripts for test execution, data collection, and analysis using Python or similar programming languages.

Perform environmental and reliability stress testing, such as thermal cycling, voltage margining, and soak tests.

Analyze test results, identify root causes, and drive resolution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Support platform bring-up, firmware validation, and vendor qualification for high-speed modules.

Contribute to DSP bring-up and tuning, including writing low-level code for signal processing and link optimization.

Apply knowledge of laser components, modulation schemes, and optical communication principles to system validation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, or related field.

5+ years of experience in high-speed systems or related fields.

Hands‑on experience with high-speed transceivers (e.g., QSFP‑DD, OSFP, AEC) and related lab instruments (oscilloscope, BERT, VNA).

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Passion for high-speed signaling, system‑level validation, and continuous learning.

Solid understanding of SerDes architecture, signal integrity, and high-speed link behavior.

Familiarity with DSP architecture and ability to write bring‑up and tuning code.

The base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 per year. The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, experience, training, skills, qualifications, and location. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, equity and a full range of medical and other benefits.
