Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. As a software engineer on the Search team, you’ll work on critical projects that impact global users and help shape the future of search.
About the job We need engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large‑scale system design, networking, data storage, security, AI, NLP, UI design, and mobile. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain large‑scale software solutions, provide technical leadership, and help us build recommendation systems and optimize machine learning infrastructure.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure.
5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
5 years of experience building and deploying recommendation systems models.
3 years of experience in software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
3 years of experience leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in structured cross‑functional or cross‑business projects.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large‑scale software solutions.
Provide technical leadership on projects, manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Facilitate alignment across teams and coach a distributed team of engineers.
Lead the design and implementation of recommendation systems and optimize ML infrastructure.

Benefits and Compensation US base salary range: $197,000–$291,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, and location.
