Managing Director, Tax - Private Client

The Private Client Tax Managing Director serves as a trusted advisor and member of various client service teams, requiring significant knowledge of taxation compliance and consulting related to personal, partnership, trust, estate, gift, wealth‑retention strategies, and charitable entities managed by ultra‑high net worth clients. The role includes client development, team management, and ongoing research to remain a subject‑matter expert.
What You Will Do
Providing tax compliance and tax advisory services to individuals, partnerships, trusts, estates, and private foundations
Developing, building, and managing client relationships as part of the proposal process
Participating in networking activities to expand business opportunities and client relationships
Maintaining functional expertise and understanding of a client’s business or family structure to address concerns and challenges
Assisting with managing, developing, and coaching professional tax staff
Reviewing and managing projects prepared by tax associates and seniors
Effectively delegating responsibilities and monitoring engagement teams
Proficiently using technology tools and improving work processes through technology
Researching complex tax issues, applying findings, and clearly communicating findings in writing
Minimum Qualifications
11 years or more of related experience in public accounting, law firm, or trust department
Bachelor or graduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
CPA license or J.D. degree and bar admission
Experience managing multiple client engagements
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Taxation or Law
Experience with OneSource tax software
Compensation & Benefits New York City: $215,300 – $364,320 per year (salary based on experience, education, and skill set). Total compensation includes salary, group health plan benefits, 401(K), profit‑sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave. Forvis Mazars reserves the right to adjust the salary range as needed.
New Jersey: $215,300 – $364,320 per year (salary based on experience, education, and skill set). Similar benefits apply, with overtime compensation for non‑exempt positions over 40 hours per week.
