RESPONSIBILITIES Under supervision, the Information Systems Analyst 1 will assist with supporting research in behavioral genetics within the Department of Psychiatry, primarily for the Center for Genetics, Genomics, and Epigenetics of Substance Use Disorders in Outbred Rats. Responsibilities include: • Assisting in database processes and routine quality control for data inputs and analysis outputs. • Maintaining and updating the Center's PostgreSQL database, establishing and maintaining data flow within the Center and with collaborators, setting up and maintaining archives, serving as a point of contact for high‑performance computing (HPC) clusters, performing quality control for data inputs and analysis outputs. • Developing data extraction algorithms, improving data organization, supporting team efforts on data extraction, and assisting with training of new bioinformatics team members. • Performing other project and miscellaneous duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

INFO SYS ANL 1: Four years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area. INFO SYS ANL 2: Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

Basic knowledge of several areas of IT. Basic knowledge of Linux and Windows systems and HPC environments.

Basic knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Familiarity with Python, R, SQL, Bash, and Git version control.

Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot basic problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Basic understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Understanding of system‑performance monitoring and remediation.

Basic understanding of data management operations and database administration. Includes PostgreSQL triggers, views, and stored procedures.

Basic knowledge of computer security best practices and policies. Ability to put knowledge into practice.

Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner, including QC reports.

Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non‑technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non‑technical information in a clear and concise manner. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Self‑motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem‑solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

Experience with data ETL processes and multi‑step workflow automation for bioinformatics applications.

Ability to report and summarize collected data and effectively present to team members.

Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent).

Experience with web application frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, Streamlit) for data access interfaces.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Academic background in bioinformatics, genetics, computational biology, or related field.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

PAY INFORMATION Annual Full Pay Range: $55,400 - $93,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $26.53 - $44.92 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
