Municipal Lender
to provide government lending expertise to Wintrust Charters generating more robust relationships with local government agencies. The ideal candidate will bring drive, creativity, resourcefulness, and passion for public service to continue growing our business in established and new markets.
What You’ll Do
Identify requests from customers or promising in‑market prospects that build or solidify banking relationships and boost market share
Structure loan terms to meet borrower objectives and fit their borrowing authority, mitigate risk and offer Lender an attractive return and/or other benefits
Underwrite new loan requests and navigate our internal credit approval process
Draft bid forms, term sheets, and commitments summarise approved terms
Manage the financing pipeline to meet all bid/commitment deadlines
Participate in client/prospect calls, association events and other outreach
Develop and maintain a referral network of internal and external Centers of Influence to generate new business opportunities
Portfolio Management:
Draft annual reviews or coordinating reviews of existing municipal exposure
Add and update existing exposure tracking systems and reports
Take on additional responsibilities in response to evolving circumstances
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related discipline
Minimum 4 years’ commercial or investment banking and/or commercial credit experience, preferably within the municipal lending/public finance space
Passion for public service, building municipal finance expertise and relationships
Thorough understanding of general credit and risk principles, mitigates, and banking policies/procedures
Strong analytical and financial modeling abilities
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of management, including lending personnel
Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to establish client relationships
Effective time management by balancing multiple priorities within individual workload
Proficiency using Microsoft Office products including advanced Excel modeling skills
