Job Summary Mercury Systems seeks a talented principal electrical engineer to deliver cutting- edge solutions for mission‑critical aerospace and defense applications, combining commercial innovation with defense‑grade security. In this role, you’ll innovate with advanced embedded technology to solve complex systems as part of a collaborative hardware electrical engineering team. As a seasoned individual contributor, you will serve as a key liaison between program management, system engineering, mechanical design, software, and manufacturing, working independently with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities

Creatively design, develop, and verify complex circuits, modules, and systems to meet customer and market requirements

Develop complex embedded digital hardware products from concept through lab verification to production

Take ownership of the full product development lifecycle, ensuring quality and performance standards are met

Design with cutting‑edge technology from Intel, Microchip, Xilinx, NVIDIA, TI and beyond

Interact with architecture/system engineering, program/product management, CAD & SI, ME, FW/SW, purchasing, and Manufacturing Operations

Design using high‑speed digital design interfaces including Ethernet, PCIe, DDR SDRAM Memory. Other support circuitry to include DC/DC power, Clocking, JTAG, SPI, I2C, UARTs

Develop detailed design specifications, test plans, and verification reports

Develop schematics using Cadence DEHDL (Concept) or equivalent

Support CAD and Signal Integrity (SI) with PCB Rules with Cadence Allegro or equivalent

Utilize LAB tools such as Oscilloscopes and DVMs for verification and debug

Execute Lab Debug for both HW/SW that range from new development to continued sustaining

Security Clearance This position may require you to have or obtain a government security clearance in the future. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Required Qualifications

Typically requires a minimum of 6 - 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering; may be less with a higher level degree

Design with Intel CPU architecture (Xeon‑D, Cascade Lake, Sapphire Rapids), development, and test including BIOS firmware or other Microprocessor architecture

Design with network switching (Mellanox, Broadcom, Marvel) or other similar communication technologies

Analysis including stress derating, reliability, and FMECA

Schematic integrity checking analysis with Mentor Valydate or equivalent

Cadence Allegro experience for CAD/SI layout and simulation

Design with Military Grade Components and Operating Environments

Requirements traceability (JAMA, DOORS)

Experience in development of proposals, requirements, and design specifications

Pay Grade Range Full‑time Equivalent Job Grade Range for this Position:

$87,100.00 - $182,900.00 annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees

$97,600.00 - $204,800.00 annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA

$102,800.00 - $215,800.00 annual salary for in‑office or hybrid employees in NJ

Education, training, skills and certifications;

Internal equity with others employed by Mercury in similar roles;

Geographic location; and

Alignment with market data.
