Job Description AECOM is seeking an experienced
Electrical Engineer
with a strong background in
Power Systems and Modeling
to support
Energy Transition projects.
This role requires deep expertise in areas such as transmission and distribution planning, generation interconnection, and electrical system modeling. The successful candidate will apply advanced methodologies in system planning, load forecasting, and grid modeling to anticipate future infrastructure needs driven by load growth, electrification, distributed energy resources (DER), and climate‑related impacts.
Responsibilities
Provides technical expertise and strategic guidance to inform grid modernization initiatives, opportunities, and projects
Evaluates, develops, and leads projects that have significant financial and operational impact
Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, aligning project outcomes with client goals and industry standards
Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, and key energy stakeholders
Self‑motivated and intellectually curious, with a proactive approach to delivering projects on time and within budget, and a solid understanding of the complexities involved in developing large‑scale utility and energy projects
Plan, write, and perform tasks for proposals and project deliverables
Collaborate across business lines and teams
Engage with technical and industry organizations to remain informed on emerging technology and relevant challenges in the utility sector
Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
Knowledge and ability to apply problem‑solving approaches and engineering theory
Develop system models, simulate various scenarios, and generate detailed reports based on the outcomes
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Highly motivated and independent self‑starter
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Licensed Professional Engineer
Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as MS Office, CYME, PSCAD, PSS/E, ASPEN, ETAP)

Compensation Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000.
