Job Summary The Prisma Health Physician is responsible for the provision of quality medical services to patients of Prisma Health-University Medical Group.
Accountabilities
Engages in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects or injuries and recommend or prescribe treatments for the relief or cure of physical, mental or functional ailments or defects.
Renders medical treatment consistent with generally accepted professional standards of care without regard to payment ability, race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, or age.
Completes accurate, legible, and timely records with respect to all medical examinations and procedures; uses Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases codes accurately.
Provides after‑hours call coverage equally with other physicians of the practice unless otherwise agreed.
Complies with standards of accepted medical practice, managed care regulations, and Joint Commission standards (except where those rules conflict with professional judgment).
Maintains sufficient continuing medical education to meet certification and state licensing requirements.
Participates in non‑revenue generating activities that advance Prisma Health’s vision and mission, such as committee service, community outreach, teaching, research, and other department‑determined activities.
Responds to requests for proposals for managed care contracts.
Assists in the establishment of quality assurance, utilization management, patient education, and patient satisfaction programs.
Supports the employer in obtaining and maintaining licenses, permits, authorizations, and accreditation standards related to Physician practice or department.
Supervisory/Management Responsibility The position has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members and may include budget authority, hiring/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility, and disciplinary authority. The job is a member of the management staff at Prisma Health Company or affiliate and has direct reports.
Minimum Requirements
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Successful completion of residency; board certified or board eligible; medical staff privileges
Required Certifications, Registrations, and Licenses
South Carolina Medical License
South Carolina Controlled Substance License
Drug Enforcement Agency Number
