Base pay range $167,000.00/yr - $315,000.00/yr
Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Duties
The general practice dental officer serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective - restorative - or preventive measures
The incumbent shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services
Specifically - the provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following: Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity
Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions
Administer local anesthesia
Perform routine and complex restoration of teeth
Perform simple and complex extractions of teeth
Perform alveoloplasty and other routine surgical procedures
Perform prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures - full dentures - partial dentures - crowns and fixed bridge work
Perform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth
Perform routine and surgical procedures within the scope of a general dentist
Dentists are licensed independent practitioners that practice based on their specific approved privileges and guidance derived from VHA - Medical Center and Service Directives/Memorandums
All dentists are supervised by the Chief of Service
