We are seeking an innovative, creative, and enthusiastic senior-level planner to join our company and provide planning services to multiple Bay Area jurisdictions. This role will focus on project planning (current planning) and project management support for large development projects across several Northern California jurisdictions. In addition, the role will also help out in various advanced planning and policy items.
Good City Company is a long-standing land-use and local government consultant firm based in Redwood City, California. For decades, we have provided local planning services to numerous public agencies in Northern California. We strive to give our team members flexibility in their work schedules, as well as variety in the type of projects they work on each day.
Qualifications
5-10+ years of progressively responsible experience in development-related project management experience, city planning, and/or urban planning consultant experience.
Experience as a project manager for development entitlements
California-based experience is a plus
Experience as a project planner for medium and large-size current planning projects.
Involvement with policy planning efforts (General Plans, Specific Plans, etc.) and environmental review efforts is a plus.
General knowledge of CEQA. You do not have to be a CEQA expert, but we want to be knowledgeable and be able to ask the right questions.
Experience presenting to Boards, Commissions, Committees and/or City Council
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban or regional planning, architecture, or a closely related field. If you have a bachelor’s degree in another field but have planning experience noted above, that should work, too.
The ability to travel and work in the office 3-4x per week. This position would typically work in a Bay Area City Hall or our Downtown Redwood City HQ.

What You’ll Do
Manage highly complex development applications, including commercial, office, and residential projects.
Research and prepare complex reports and documents regarding advance planning policy topics, including General Plan amendments, updating the City’s precise plans, and rezoning request
Perform site visits relating to new development applications
Attend and present at Boards, Commission, Committee, and Council meetings
Lead improvements in planning procedures and related information systems
Supervise the work of Good City Company planning staff as needed

Salary Range: $130,000-$170,000 annual salary
