Registered Nurse (T&RC) Obstetric Acute/Postpartum Full-Time Night Shift

Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, Registered Nurses are critical members of the team who diagnose and treat patients with acute obstetric and postpartum conditions. Incumbents provide comprehensive nursing care, support patient recovery, and collaborate with the medical team to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care.
Responsibilities
Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate care with other health disciplines to integrate nursing activities into the overall treatment plan.
Develop individualized care plans, including teaching needs and discharge planning; set priorities and patient goals.
Provide direct care, administer medications, and practice infection control to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Document patient/family teaching and ensure education is consistent with physician instructions.
Communicate changes in patient condition and question regarding patient care to Charge RN/Clinician and collaborate effectively with other staff and departments.
Participate in unit or hospital‑based quality assurance activities and committees to advance the nursing profession.
Working Conditions Exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids, and tissue is possible. The role involves irregular hours, high call volume, and emergency situations. The position is classified as OSHA Category 1.
Qualifications Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of previous hospital acute‑care experience.
Experience in obstetrics, RNC‑MNN, RNC‑OB, or NRP/BLS certifications.
Acute‑care nursing in an acute‑care facility counts toward RN1 experience.
