Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant III SICU PRN, Weston Hospital Cleveland Clinic Weston is seeking a skilled and compassionate PRN Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our multidisciplinary SICU/CVICU team. The APP will provide comprehensive critical care services to post-surgical and cardiovascular patients in a high-acuity ICU setting. This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work with a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct care to critically ill patients in the SICU/CVICU in collaboration with attending intensivists and multidisciplinary teams.

Perform clinical assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, develop and implement treatment plans.

Perform procedures such as arterial and central line placement, intubations, and other critical care interventions (depending on credentialing).

Participate in rounds, rapid response, and emergency interventions.

Document all care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.

Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices in critical care.

Conduct thorough medical histories, perform full physical examinations when indicated, initiate appropriate lab and imaging tests, scrutinize lab data, establish current health status, develop working diagnosis and treatment plan. Work in collaboration with the healthcare team.

Perform and interpret routine laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic, and other diagnostic procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by license through applicable state board and Cleveland Clinic policies.

Educate patients and answer questions regarding disease, treatment, related drug and treatment side effects, and hazards.

Collaborate with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care.

Refer patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or specialized resources and treatment.

Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other team members or specialty areas as necessary.

Participate in quality monitoring through review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a periodic basis to assure quality care.

Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management.

Support professional development of the healthcare team.

Promote translation of evidence‑based practices, guidelines, and research.

May conduct research studies and assist in data collection and analysis.

May serve as clinical preceptor for students and onboard new caregivers.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Current licensure as an NP or PA in the state of Florida.

National certification (for APRN: AGACNP-BC or ACNP-BC required).

DEA license and BLS/ACLS certification required.

Minimum 2 years of experience in an ICU setting preferred.

Proficiency in critical care procedures strongly preferred.

Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.

Schedule

Per diem – shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Flexible scheduling based on staffing needs and candidate availability.

Education and Credentials

APRN: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving to an APRN licensed role. Graduate of an accredited APRN program. If in neonatal care service area, Master’s Degree is required upon hire.

PA: Graduate of an A.R.C. approved Physician Assistant Program. Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or higher degree recognized by the state licensing board.

Languages

Oral and written communication in English.

Certifications

NP: Licensed as RN in applicable state(s), national certification as a Nurse Practitioner, BLS and ACLS or PALS/NRP as required by work setting. Credentialed and privileged by Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of applicable hospitals.

PA: Certification through NCCPA or successor organization, license to practice and prescribe issued by state board, DEA license or designee, BLS and ACLS or PALS/NRP/ATLS as required. Must have Physician Supervision Agreement and be credentialed and privileged by Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of applicable hospitals.

Work Experience

Related clinical experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.

Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination for physical exams.

Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.

Occasionally lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.

May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
