Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to adult cancer treatment, groundbreaking research, and infectious disease prevention. Based in Seattle, Washington, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute‑designated cancer center in the state and operates eight clinical sites offering comprehensive oncology services.
Overview The Registered Nurse will be a member of an interdisciplinary care team in the Procedure Suite. This 0.5 FTE (20 hours/week) role focuses on patient‑centric nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and allied health professionals to deliver safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based care.
Responsibilities
Assess physical, emotional, social, and spiritual patient needs and evaluate adaptation to health changes.
Develop a plan of care based on disease, symptoms, and response to treatment.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers about disease processes, treatment, side effects, and symptom management.
Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
Refer patients, families, and caregivers to appropriate clinical resources (e.g., social work, home health, clinical nutrition).
Implement, evaluate, and modify the plan of care as needed.
Integrate research and evidence‑based knowledge into clinical practice.
Qualifications Required:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or current NLC multistate license (MSL) with WA residency. License upgrade to MSL required within 60 days of hire.
Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent) with renewal every two years.
Critical thinking and clinical judgment skills.
Excellent time‑management and independent task organization.
Strong communication skills, including active listening, questioning, and teaching techniques.
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
At least two years of nursing experience.
Compensation & Benefits The hourly pay range is $47.64–$88.19, based on experience and qualifications. Registered Nurses are paid on a step‑scale basis and are eligible for shift differentials and additional pay premiums such as advanced degree preceptor, and certification. The position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
Benefits include medical/vision, dental, flexible spending accounts, life, disability retirement, family life support, employee assistance program, onsite health clinic, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation (12–22 days/year), paid sick leave (12–25 days/year), paid holidays (13 days/year), paid parental leave (up to 4 weeks).
