Within Tax, our Site Selection & Incentives Advisory practice assists companies in assessing and selecting new locations and accessing the myriad tax and other financial incentives offered by national, state and local governments. In addition to traditional business incentives, this position focuses on global incentives: identifying and delivering site selection and incentives opportunities outside the US, and inbound US opportunities for companies investing from abroad, specifically targeting Japanese inbound companies.
Day‑to‑day Responsibilities
Meeting with clients to assess their needs for new locations or expansions.
Collaborating with clients to develop parameters for a new location and selecting variables and data to assist decisions.
Developing discounted cash flow models to compare the benefits and advantages of each site.
Gathering data from national, state and local communities to support the models.
Presenting location analysis to clients and their leadership.
Creating and executing negotiating strategies on behalf of clients seeking credits and grants.
Directing staff in research, analysis, report preparation, application writing and other relevant tasks.
Presenting client projects to government officials and leading discussions on relevant incentive programs and qualification processes.
Preparing and presenting proposals and qualifications to prospective clients.
Preparing comprehensive reports on potential financial incentives available, given the client’s facts.
Essential Traits
Working knowledge of both statutory and discretionary global financial incentives.
At least 10 years of relevant experience within a consulting or real‑estate firm, economic development agency, or state tax agency.
Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related field (master’s in economic development highly preferred).
Superior analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills.
Fluency in Japanese strongly preferred.
Dedication to teamwork.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
Ability to adapt to ever‑changing client demands.
Flexibility to travel, as needed.
Supervisory experience.
This is a part‑time position.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that represent diverse communities.
Experience working with diverse teams.
