Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch in Ridgewood, NJ, is searching for a Deputy Director for its Dispatch Center. The successful candidate will assist in managing operations and administration of the communications center serving Glen Rock and Ridgewood, as well as 12 other public safety jurisdictions. Responsibilities
Responsibilities include payroll, furnishing recordings relating to discovery/OPRA or agency requests, accounts payable/receivable. Assists with updating the Center’s policies and procedures, reviewing critical incidents, Management Committee meeting preparation. Supervises the inspection and maintenance of communications equipment and systems. Has oversight of CAD and mapping systems. Qualifications
Successful candidate must have: knowledge of principles of employee development; ability to interact with multiple departments across Police, Fire, and EMS; experience in development of policy, collective bargaining, and command or leadership; knowledge of scheduling, human resources, timekeeping, payroll, QuickBooks and budgeting; critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify problems, conclusions, innovative approaches, and solutions; effective oral and written communications skills; working knowledge of CAD and communications systems; and familiarity with the area served. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or five years prior experience in public safety dispatching, completion of IC 100 and IC 200, two years’ supervisory experience of 20 or more employees in a multi‑jurisdictional/multi‑discipline Emergency Communication Center serving a population of 100,000 or more, and valid CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and Basic Telecommunicator certifications are required. Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week. Must be available during off hours when situations arise, for the functional operation of the Center. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, pension. Salary range $88,000 – $93,000, commensurate with experience. Application Deadline
