ED Technician Responsibilities
Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) care to ED patients in collaboration with ED Registered Nurses and Physicians.
Perform specialized skills including custom orthopedic splinting, assisting with orthopedic casting, phlebotomy, dressing applications, suturing preparation and urinary catheter insertion.
Assist with bioterrorism and disaster preparedness, including responding to mass patient influx.
All duties supervised by an ED Registered Nurse or Emergency Physician.
Report to the Director of Emergency Services.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
1 year pre‑hospital EMS experience preferred.
Licensure / Certification:
BLS healthcare provider required; EMT Certification preferred.
Skills:
Take vital signs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Computer proficiency.
English reading, writing, and oral communication.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
