Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assessment of individual patients’ occupational therapy needs and establishment of occupation‑based treatment programs and goals.
Execution of evidence‑based examinations and screening tests, evaluation of functional, cognitive, visual, and perceptual abilities, and development of individualized plans of care.
Implementation of therapeutic activities using everyday tasks to improve patients’ skills for daily living in home, community, and work settings.
Monitoring progress, conducting re‑evaluations, measuring outcomes, and providing education to patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams.
Oversight of Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides and management of multiple patient caseloads.
Participation in continuing education, incorporation of new knowledge into practice, and fulfillment of other duties as assigned.
Mentorship and orientation of new staff, fieldwork education for students and interns, and instruction in established training programs.
Qualifications
Eighteen months of experience as an occupational therapist in an acute healthcare system.
Experience with a broad range of diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary.
Completion of mandatory stroke‑specific education required for certification.
Current licensure as an occupational therapist in the state of California.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare database systems is preferred; bilingual or multilingual abilities are an asset.
Knowledge of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP) is required for the Acute Rehabilitation Unit. Home‑evaluation travel may be required.
