Overview
SQL Server Database Production Support role at BNY. Location: Lake Mary, Florida or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities
SQL Server Platform Management: Oversee administration of SQL Server (2019, 2022) instances across all business lines, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, space management, and routine maintenance (statistics updates, reindexing, consistency checks, backup/recovery).
Performance Tuning & Query Optimization: Collaborate with application teams to analyze query performance, use Query Store for consistent results, and advise on partitioning strategies for large data sets.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Manage Always On Availability Groups and clustering (4-node configurations), minimize replication lag, guide secondary read-only usage, and handle planned/unplanned failovers.
Security & Access Management: Configure SQL Server authentication, create logins/users, and enforce least privilege access for applications and users.
Database Schema Change Management: Lead schema change processes using automation tools like GitLab and Liquibase, including rollback procedures.
Leverage AI/LLM Tools: Utilize Large Language Models (e.g., ChatGPT) to troubleshoot and manage complex SQL Server issues.
Cross-Platform Experience: Experience with other data platforms (Oracle, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred. 8–10 years of related infrastructure experience; securities/financial services experience is a plus.
Experience managing Always On SQL Server clusters with 4-node configurations.
SQL Server or Azure SQL certification; experience managing Azure SQL Managed Instances.
Familiarity with AI/LLM tools for database management.
Additional experience with other database platforms is advantageous.
