Base pay range $170,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr
As a Senior Project Manager specializing in large‑scale data center projects, you play a crucial role in the early stages, overall construction, and execution of these projects. Your responsibilities include managing the entire lifecycle of data center development, from initial design and planning through construction to final closeout.
You will be responsible for overseeing data center construction from design inception through project handoff, ensuring alignment with executive expectations. This includes managing the design process from the Basis of Design stage through construction drawings, coordinating meetings between engineering teams, developers, and subject matter experts. You will provide continuous oversight throughout construction and administration, tracking progress, managing change orders and budgets, and ensuring timely reporting to executive management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in large‑scale building construction and design, along with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
Manage data center projects including all aspects of the program, concept and design development, schedule and budget management.
Provide day‑to‑day construction oversight and report to leadership on a routine basis. Hybrid role as you will oversee and report on construction progress.
Oversee the execution of data center design, ensuring construction progresses as planned and all critical project milestones are achieved.
Manage the fit‑out of data halls, including overseeing the design and execution of electrical systems, fiber infrastructure, and HACs. This requires a strong understanding of data hall layouts, HACs, busways, PDUs, fiber, cat6, server cabinets and other critical infrastructure components.
Define and track deliverables from multiple parties, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
Monitor project cost, schedule, progress, and scope, providing regular health reports.
Assemble and optimize design teams by leveraging internal expertise and strategic procurement of external partners.
Coordinate ongoing meetings with site developers, data center vendors, general contractors and other onsite individuals.
Provide engineering expertise for construction, commissioning and closeout.
Oversee submittals and request for information (RFIs) or questions on engineering from the site developer/general contractor.
Track and report on key engineering submittals, deliveries, installations and commissioning references to schedule and meet milestones.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field.
Professional licensure (PE, NCARB, RA) strongly preferred.
Prior experience with data center design and/or construction preferred.
Acceptable experience from related fields includes: Healthcare (hospitals), large‑scale commercial (high‑rises), laboratory facilities, manufacturing facilities (fabs, industrial plants), high‑power infrastructure (power plants, substations).
7+ years of experience in data center design and/or construction project management.
Strong understanding of construction principles and best practices.
Proficiency in developing project plans and specifications.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
