HR & Operations Associate @ Pure Lithium Corporation Job Description:

Pure Lithium is currently seeking a

Director of Quality

to join our team. The successful candidate will support PL’s effort to develop next-generation brine-to-battery technology instead cathode for its Lithium metal battery. The Director of Quality will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s Quality Management System across cell materials, cell manufacturing, and downstream battery products. This role ensures that every stage of production—from raw materials to finished cells—meets the highest levels of safety, reliability, and performance required in the battery industry. This leader will be responsible for defining quality standards, reducing process variability, increasing yield, and ensuring compliance with industry certifications and global safety requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in lithium-based battery manufacturing, strong leadership skills, and a hands‑on approach to solving complex quality challenges in a fast‑paced, scaling environment.

Responsibilities:

Own and evolve Pure Lithium’s Quality Management System (QMS) from pilot stage to commercial production, achieving and maintaining ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and relevant battery‑specific certifications (UN 38.3, IEC 62133, UL 1642, etc.)

Define, implement, and enforce incoming, in‑process, and outgoing quality standards for all lithium‑metal battery components: brine‑derived cathode materials, lithium‑metal anodes, electrolytes, separators, and finished cells

Lead process capability studies (Cp/Cpk), statistical process control (SPC), and Design of Experiments (DOE) to drive first‑pass yield >95 % in cell manufacturing and eliminate critical defects (dendrites, shorts, swelling, thermal events)

Own root‑cause analysis (8D, fishbone, 5‑why) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for all non‑conformances

Develop and execute qualification plans for new materials, processes, and suppliers; own change control (ECR/ECO) and risk management (PFMEA) for lithium‑metal cell production

Design and deploy formation, grading, and end‑of‑line test protocols that guarantee every shipped cell meets energy, cycle‑life, fast‑charge, and safety specifications

Partner with Engineering and Operations to implement poke‑yoke, optical inspection, and real‑time monitoring systems that prevent quality escapes in a highly reactive lithium‑metal environment

Serve as the primary quality interface with strategic customers, tier‑1 OEMs, and certification bodies during audits, tech reviews, and PPAP submissions

Drive a “zero‑incident” safety culture specific to lithium‑metal handling: enforce strict reactivity protocols, containment standards, and emergency response procedures for lithium fires/exposure

Continuously benchmark and adopt best‑in‑class quality tools and practices to keep Pure Lithium at the forefront of lithium‑metal battery quality

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Manufacturing Quality, with at least 2 years in lithium‑based battery manufacturing (cells, modules, or packs)

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred)

Deep understanding of battery chemistry, cell architecture, and manufacturing processes (mixing, coating, calendaring, stacking/winding, electrolyte filling, formation, EOL testing)

Strong knowledge of quality standards and regulatory frameworks

Ability to work cross‑functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, Operations, and EHS to ensure alignment on quality and safety standards

Demonstrated success operating in a fast‑paced, scaling environment, ideally within a startup or growth‑stage manufacturing company

About Pure Lithium:
