Position Overview Acme Industries is a contract manufacturer serving Fortune 500 clients with high‑quality precision components. We specialize in medium‑volume, medium‑mix production for aerospace, defense, power generation, mining, transportation, and other industries.

Acme Industries is seeking an experienced Director of Quality to join our leadership team and build a world‑class quality organization. This is a high‑impact role for a leader who thrives in growth environments and wants to shape the future of quality excellence in aerospace, defense, and advanced industrial markets. You will lead a talented team of quality professionals, drive continuous improvement across operations, and ensure that quality is embedded in every process, partnership, and decision within the company.

Job Duties

Define and implement Acme's long‑term quality strategy aligned with business growth and market diversification goals.

Partner with executive leadership to build scalable systems and drive data‑driven decision‑making.

Lead transformation initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality performance, and overall customer experience.

Oversee all aspects of AS9100 / ISO 9001 certification, compliance, and audit readiness.

Expand quality systems to support growth in aerospace, defense, and critical industrial markets, including NADCAP and ITAR compliance.

Serve as a key leader supporting readiness for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).

Integrate process control, risk management, and advanced quality planning (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC) across operations.

Build, mentor, and inspire a high‑performing quality organization with strong technical and leadership depth.

Foster a proactive culture where quality is owned by every team member—from the shop floor to the executive level.

Provide leadership in problem‑solving, coaching, and professional development across the company.

Drive the cultural shift toward built‑in quality rather than reliance on inspection.

Drive measurable improvements in first‑pass yield, nonconformance reduction, and customer satisfaction.

Implement robust metrics and dashboards that connect quality performance to business outcomes.

Partner with Operations and Engineering to ensure manufacturing processes are capable, efficient, and continuously improving.

Serve as the primary quality liaison for strategic customers and partners.

Build strong relationships with customer quality and engineering teams to ensure alignment and rapid issue resolution.

Elevate supplier quality management to strengthen the supply chain and overall performance.

Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing quality engineering and inspection team.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and proactive problem‑solving.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field; advanced degree preferred.

10+ years progressive manufacturing quality leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior management or director‑level role.

Proven success in aerospace, defense, or complex precision manufacturing environments.

Deep knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FAI, NADCAP, and related standards.

Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, scale systems, and build high‑performing teams.

Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and relationship management skills.
