Position Overview: ITC Federal is seeking an experienced Virtualization / Cloud Engineer to support the organizational security goals of the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE). A qualified candidate must possess the ability to handle day‑to‑day operations for a research‑oriented environment. A successful candidate must be innovative, self‑motivated, passionate about solving problems, have a demonstrated history of on‑time product delivery and be able to develop and maintain relationships with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Perform system administration of the full stack virtual infrastructure which includes VMware vSphere, Aria Operations, and supporting compute hardware.

Design, deploy, and manage private virtualization infrastructure using hybrid cloud environments on AWS, Azure, and Google GCP.

Develop and implement Private/Hybrid cloud solutions and strategies that align with the business vision.

Analyze and optimize system performance and capacity ensuring optimal performance and availability.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues and to design and implement solutions.

Conduct in‑depth technical reviews, assessments, and evaluations of new and existing IT systems to identify the appropriate mitigation strategies required to bring these systems into compliance with established NIST policy and industry guidelines as well as stay at the cutting edge in technology and security.

Perform assessments to fully identify requirements for the customer’s missions and challenges.

Obtain training and certifications as needed.

Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications Required Skills/Experience:

Excellent understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper‑V, and KVM; experience in supporting the VMware platform. Knowledge of vSphere 7 (and newer), VMware Cloud Foundation 5 (or newer), VMware vSAN, VMware NSX, VMware Aria Operations (full suite), VMware Aria Automation, and VMware Identity Manager.

Experience in supporting iSCSI network storage solutions such as Dell EMC Unity XT.

Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Strong organization, written, and oral communication skills and ability to communicate complex solutions via PowerPoint or whiteboarding to a varied audience.

Experience leading discovery sessions, analyzing business requirements, and providing detailed designs.

Strong ability to function independently and as part of an integrated cross‑functional team.

Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn and cross‑train.

Ability to create technical and architectural documentation.

5+ years of experience in Cloud architecture design or senior technology role.

5+ years of experience in Data Center and Virtualization architecture design and engineering.

Experience with a wide variety of technologies including (Cloud, Network, Security, AI, and ML).

Required Education/Certifications/Licenses:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering / Computer Science with 5+ years' experience.

At least one of the following certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Advanced Networking, AWS Security, MCSE‑Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, Google PCA, VMWare VCP, and interest and dedication to pursuing additional expert level certifications.

Desired Skills/Experience:

Understanding of FedRAMP, GovCloud, and Cyber Security.

Advanced Cloud, Cyber Security, or Infrastructure certifications.

Experience working in the US Federal space on Cloud projects and programs.

Experience in Microsoft Windows environment, Linux, networking, and storage.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Candidate must be able to function in a general office environment.
