Title: Interim Deputy Finance Director (Temp 3‑6 months, possible temp to hire if person does very well)

Location: Banning. 100% onsite. Monday–Friday 8 am – 5 pm.

Salary: $125,000 – $170,000 annually DOE. Base pay range: $125,000 – $170,000.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

Industry: City government – will accept utilities (water, electric) or state background as well

Minimum 1 year supervisory experience

Fund accounting expertise

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, control, manage, and evaluate the work of the Finance (payroll, accounts payable, business licenses, purchasing), Utility Billing and Information Services Divisions.

Assist in the development of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.

Implement departmental plans and work programs; coordinate and integrate department functions to achieve efficiency and effectiveness, plan and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.

Assist the Director with budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing duties, including the preparation and issuance of financial reports and statements and the management, coordination, and participation in the development of the City’s budget.

Review and interpret financial policies and procedures; coordinate and review City, RDA, transit, and other audits.

Prepare RFPs and contracts for the Finance Department.

Monitor and review general ledger accounts, budget items, debt service, donation accounts, short‑term loans, property taxes, RDA revenues and pass‑throughs, and grant tracking.

Reconcile bank accounts and monitor banking activities.

Research and resolve departmental problems, discrepancies, and/or reconciliation processes; assist with procedural changes in fixed asset accounting, including additions, deletions, and depreciation.

Assist with office coverage, including preparing letters and correspondence, proofreading, reports, replying to information requests, answering phones, and maintaining and repairing office equipment.

Attend committee and professional group meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned or required.
