The Onyx Research Data Platform organization represents a major investment by GSK R&D and Digital & Tech, designed to deliver a step‑change in our ability to leverage data, knowledge, and prediction to find new medicines. The Governance Engineering team builds industry‑leading computational policy services to ensure governance processes are faithfully executed and automated. Key Responsibilities
Build, lead, develop, and retain a world‑class engineering team. Build a computational policy platform that threads through every aspect of Onyx. Provide dashboards, reporting/query tools, and policy authoring/testing tools. Serve as architect for the computational policy platform and related tools, contributing technical expertise to partner teams. Partner with leads of all Onyx and partner teams to architect an engagement model and optimal ways of working. Manage vendor relationships and contracting; delegate where advantageous. Design innovative strategies beyond the current enterprise way of working to create a better environment for end users. Standard bearer for proper ways of working and engineering discipline, including QMS framework and CI/CD best practices. Serve as a technical thought leader and champion at industry events. Basic Qualifications
PhD + 4 years, Masters + 6 years, or Bachelors + 8 years. 8+ years of Cloud experience (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Kubernetes), including infrastructure‑as‑code. 1+ year of experience with recruiting, managing, and developing engineers. 8+ years of experience managing high‑stakes, business‑critical infrastructure across multiple geographies/time zones. 8+ years of experience with software development and operations as they relate to governance considerations. Preferred Qualifications
Deep expertise in modern software development tools/ways of working. Experience with CI/CD implementations using Git and a common CI/CD stack. Demonstrated excellence with agile software development environments (Jira, Confluence). Experience establishing software engineering ways of working and best practices. Experience recruiting top engineering talent. Experience with agile planning and execution processes for software/infrastructure delivery. Salary & Benefits
If you are based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary ranges from $170,775 to $284,625. The role also offers an annual bonus, share‑based long‑term incentive program, health care and insurance benefits, retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
