Base pay range $130,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

A long-established energy developer with operations based in the Reno, NV area is seeking a Senior Electrical/Protection Engineer to support its portfolio of power-generation facilities. The company is known for designing and operating technically complex projects and maintaining a strong reputation for reliability and innovation.

Overview The Senior Protection Engineer will provide hands‑on technical support across system protection design, relay programming, equipment commissioning, and electrical distribution within multiple operating facilities. This role will also support compliance requirements tied to applicable industry standards.

This role focuses on the development, review, and improvement of electrical system performance across multiple facilities. The Senior Electrical Engineer will support system analysis, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and the commissioning and maintenance of electrical equipment.

Responsibilities

Participate in the development and refinement of electrical system configurations and protective strategies.

Review equipment performance, evaluate data, and recommend technical adjustments.

Conduct analyses to support equipment settings, system coordination, and safe operation.

Develop documentation, procedures, and testing approaches for electrical systems.

Troubleshoot electrical and control‑related issues and identify long‑term solutions.

Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and written assessments.

Support improvements to electrical infrastructure, controls, and processes.

Ensure adherence to internal safety expectations and operational standards.

Travel periodically to company sites as needed.

Perform additional tasks and project‑based responsibilities assigned by leadership.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

Several years of experience working with electrical systems in an engineering capacity.

Ability to work independently with strong initiative and sound judgment.

Experience mentoring or guiding less‑experienced technical staff is helpful.

Familiarity with system modeling concepts and basic analytical tools.

Comfort reviewing technical documentation and preparing electrical drawings.

Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical and control‑related issues.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities at once.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to respond effectively in urgent or unexpected situations.

Proficiency in English sufficient for safe and accurate work.
