Part‑Time Mechanical Engineer – Principal Level
Enercon Services, Inc. invites seasoned mechanical engineers to join as a Part‑Time Principal Mechanical Engineer. This flexible role averages 30 hours or less per week, allowing experts to work on high‑impact projects while maintaining a healthy work‑life balance.
Overview We seek accomplished Mechanical Engineers at the Principal level to contribute to major projects—such as cooling water systems for existing or new power plants—while also leading smaller design initiatives like valve replacements and authoring technical reports. Your expertise will shape innovative solutions and support client success.

Responsibilities
Deliver high‑quality engineering documents—drawings, sketches, calculations, and analyses—that meet industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Adhere to client, ENERCON, and regulatory standards, following established procedures and project directives.
Keep knowledge current with industry codes, safety culture principles, and advanced design techniques specific to the nuclear sector.
Produce deliverables that meet stringent quality assurance standards and exceed client expectations.
Build lasting client relationships through clear communication and professional interaction.
Collaborate across disciplines to ensure designs are integrated and comprehensive.
Conduct field activities—travel to plant sites, perform walkdowns, and evaluate plant structures, systems, and components—to inform projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent.
10 years of experience in nuclear or power‑generation mechanical system design.
Experience in engineering/design services, power generation, nuclear power, heavy industrial (chemical or pulp & paper), or DOE projects.
Preferred: Nuclear Engineering Change qualifications transferable from any site.
Preferred: 10CFR50.59 Screening and/or Evaluation qualifications transferable.
Experience with thermal‑hydraulic analyses and design modification.
Proficiency in preparation of mechanical calculations.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Mentorship experience or willingness to mentor early‑ to mid‑career engineers is preferred.
Must be able to obtain a nuclear facility badge.
Must be able to perform plant walkdowns.
Pay Range USD $90,000.00 – USD $177,450.00 per year.
