The Principal Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing mechanical designs and equipment, including technology transfer of manufacturing processes into new production locations. This role ensures efficient and compliant implementation of manufacturing processes across a multi‑national network of internal and external production sites, leads technical program management of technology transfer programs, and works closely with Global Procurement Engineering teams to deliver new manufacturing processes, equipment, and packaging technologies.

Primary Activities & Responsibilities

Lead development of mechanical equipment and systems to support packaging and manufacturing operations.

Provide expertise for mechanical design, verification, validation, and qualification of equipment.

Manage mechanical engineering deliverables for technology transfer of products and processes into new production locations.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure design requirements are met for quality, regulatory, safety, and operational needs.

Develop and execute equipment test methods, protocols, and technical documentation.

Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of manufacturing equipment at internal and external sites.

Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of mechanical issues during equipment build, test, and production startup.

Ensure compliance with company engineering standards, cGMP requirements, regulatory guidelines, and safety practices.

Collaborate with Procurement Engineering and Category Management to evaluate, qualify, and improve supplier capabilities.

Provide mechanical engineering input to support cost, schedule, and resource planning for projects.

Lead equipment FAT, SAT, and validation activities.

Coach and mentor junior engineers in mechanical engineering methods and best practices.

Maintain strong engagement with Manufacturing Division stakeholders.

Support strategic initiatives to improve equipment performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Education & Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Master’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Management desirable.

Required Experience & Skills

Evidence of experience working with advanced mechanical design in regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or similar.

Evidence of experience delivering technology transfer of mechanical equipment or systems.

Demonstrated knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, test methods, mechanical design tools, and mechanical design analysis.

Demonstrated experience with structured root cause analysis tools such as 8‑D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa.

Experience in the manufacturing environment producing complex mechanical or electro‑mechanical systems and products.

Familiarity with regulatory and quality requirements.

Pay Rate Range: $50–$66 per hour, depending on experience.
