Discover Technologies
Job Title:
ServiceNow Application Developer (UI/UX Specialist)
Location: Remote Option? YES
Company Overview:
At DTech Apps by Discover Technologies, we work at the speed of Now. We are a unique digital transformation, product, and consulting organization that spends every day thinking about ways to improve the lives of the modern global workforce. We enable our enterprise customers to maximize and extend their investment in technology through our innovative products and solutions.
You will be working with a team of highly skilled experts to improve the way government agencies and businesses optimize work performance. We will leverage your technical expertise to build business applications and design features that improve the reliability and visual appeal of our applications.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a versatile ServiceNow Developer who understands that a great user experience requires a deep command of the entire stack—from legacy scripting to modern declarative frameworks. The ideal candidate will not only maintain existing AngularJS portals but will also lead the transition toward the Next Experience UI Framework.
You will bridge the gap between complex backend logic and intuitive frontend design. This role requires a developer who is fluent in the core languages of the platform (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) but is also eager to implement modern standards using TypeScript and Seismic. You will be responsible for mapping business processes to technical solutions, ensuring that our applications are not just functional, but resilient and user-centric.
Key Responsibilities:
Core UI Development:
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. You will handle both client-side logic (Client Scripts, UI Policies) and server-side interactions (GlideRecord) to ensure seamless performance.
Service Portal Engineering:
Build dynamic widgets and interactive web applications using AngularJS, ensuring that our current service portals are responsive and user-friendly.
Modernization & Innovation:
drive the adoption of the Next Experience UI Framework (Seismic) for new Workspaces and UI Builder pages. Utilize ServiceNow Fluent (TypeScript-based) to define metadata in a modern, file-based development environment.
Legacy Support:
Maintain and refactor older UI components (UI Macros, UI Pages) using Jelly scripting where necessary, while strategizing their eventual migration to modern frameworks.
Process & Quality Assurance:
Identify and map key business processes to technical specifications. You will be responsible for the quality of your code, including building out our Automated Test Framework (ATF) suites to identify bugs before deployment.
Resilient Problem Solving:
Operate with a high degree of adaptability. You will troubleshoot complex bugs across distributed environments and handle technical setbacks with a focus on continuous improvement and learning.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in web application development with a focus on the ServiceNow platform.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript, with the ability to write clean, efficient code for both client-side and server-side execution.
Demonstrated experience with AngularJS for Service Portal development and HTML5/CSS3 for styling.
Familiarity with Jelly scripting for legacy UI components.
Basic knowledge of Quality Assurance processes, including manual testing or the use of Automated Test Frameworks.
Excellent problem-solving skills, resilience in the face of technical challenges, and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with experience translating business requirements into technical tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification.
Hands-on experience with the Next Experience UI Framework (Seismic) and UI Builder.
Experience with ServiceNow Fluent or TypeScript.
Knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration patterns within the ServiceNow ecosystem.
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
What We Offer:
Competitive salary and benefits package.
Opportunity to work on innovative projects with a talented team.
Professional development and career growth opportunities.
Flexible working hours and a supportive work environment.
