Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team and support the unique operational and financial needs of a fast-growing Managed Services Provider (MSP). This role is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimizing billing processes, and strengthening internal controls. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, experience with recurring-revenue businesses, and an ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Complete and/or oversee general ledger entries, weekly cash reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.

Maintain chart of accounts and ensure accurate classification of revenues, expenses, and assets.

Support month-end and year-end close, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Assist with audit preparation and coordination with external auditors.

MSP-Specific Billing & Revenue Management

Manage recurring revenue accounting for subscription-based services, contracts, and usage-based billing.

Oversee Professional Services Automation (PSA) & Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) system integrations (Autotask) to ensure accurate billing data.

Review customer contracts for financial terms, billing schedules, and margin analysis.

Lead resolution of billing discrepancies and drive process improvements.

Accounts Payable/Receivable & Expense Management

Supervise AP/AR cycles, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payment terms.

Manage collections processes and customer credit considerations.

Review vendor invoices—including cloud services, software subscriptions, and IT procurement—and ensure proper coding.

Manage employee expense reports to ensure transactions are entered with accuracy and completeness and processed in a timely manner.

Prepare monthly expense analysis report and provide explanations for significant expense variations.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

Strengthen internal accounting controls and develop standardized procedures as the MSP scales.

Maintain compliance with corporate governance, tax, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

2–4+ years of progressive accounting experience (preferably in SaaS, MSP, or recurring-revenue environments).

Solid understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition.

Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, etc.).

Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Preferred

Experience with PSA systems (Autotask).

CPA or CPA-eligible.

Experience in technology-focused or services-based organizations.

Familiarity with subscription billing systems.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration with operations, sales, and leadership.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented MSP environment.

Process-oriented with a continuous-improvement mindset.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current salary pay scale for this position is $75,000-85,000. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time.

The position is eligible for annual bonuses after one year based on several factors including company performance, individual contributions and market forces.
