About the Role The Principal Electrical Engineer oversees the design, development, modification, and evaluation of highly complex electrical components and systems. Responsibilities include leading advanced projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, conducting tests and simulations, documenting design processes and results, providing expert technical support and troubleshooting, mentoring less experienced engineers, and staying current on engineering advancements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience) or Masters with 10+ years experience.

Typically 12+ years of related experience.

Mastery in a particular area such as power systems, control systems, EWIS, or CD&H.

Expert knowledge of relevant industry standards.

Expert knowledge of electrical and avionic systems architectures and design.

Expert in troubleshooting and solving complex problems.

Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced engineers.

Ability to take task‑ownership and lead teams.

Ability to work with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams.

Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation.

Knowledge of systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.

Experience performing trade studies to support subsystem architecture decisions.

An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience serving as a Responsible Engineer (RE), driving hardware through its lifecycle.

Experience with Electrical Architecture.

Proficiency in electrical design software such as Capital, AutoCAD Electrical, or Altium Designer.

Experience with simulation software like SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or Hyperlynx.

Expertise in PCB design and layout.

Advanced understanding of power electronics and control systems.

Extensive experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems.

Ability to perform advanced circuit analysis and troubleshooting using tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.

Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ or Python for embedded systems development.

Familiarity with CCSDS specifications for spacecraft and ground data flow.

Proven experience in project management and the ability to lead large and complex projects.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation Pay Range: $160,160.00 – $220,220.00. Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, education, experience, internal equity, and market competitiveness.

IMPORTANT NOTICE This position requires current/active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non‑U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF) handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants.
