Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Finance oversees accounting, internal financial controls, budgeting, financial reporting and analytics for the organization which has annual revenue of over $30 million.
Key Responsibilities
Directs the preparation, review, and distribution of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, budgets, monthly budget variance reports, tax returns, and regulatory agency reports.
Assists Program Directors in evaluating their financial performance and efforts to improve operational performance.
Supports the CFO and Departmental Directors with and operational expertise as requested.
Ensures timely annual independent financial audit and tax returns are completed with minimal adjustment to internal financial reporting.
Calculates variances from the budget and reports significant issues to management.
Performs analytical and managerial accounting functions including unit costing, payer analysis, grant budget utilization, forecasting, and other functions.
Works with the CFO to oversee all banking/treasury functions.
Supervisory Duties
Supervises and oversees the performance of the Accounting Department.
Coordinates the annual preparation and ongoing monitoring of departmental financial budgets to ensure organizational goals are being met.
Communicates financial information and results, both internally and externally, in an accurate and timely manner.
Monitors each department's financial performance with the CFO, COO, and CEO and addresses budget variances as needed.
Participates as a key member of the business operations group.
Maintains an effective system of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Oversees the activities of accounting staff, including payroll processing, vendor payments, fee collections, donations, event activities, account reconciliation, accrual adjustments, and reporting.
Compliance Responsibilities
Implements and monitors all systems of internal accounting controls to mitigate potential fraud, safeguard assets, and provide confidence in the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
Ensures all historical financial records are maintained safely and securely, with easy access by authorized personnel, external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance – Required
5 years of experience in a similar role – Strongly Preferred
Staff supervisory experience – Strongly Preferred
Healthcare/Non-Profit/Mental Healthcare Experience – Preferred but Not Required
Grant reporting – Preferred but Not Required
Strong reconciliation skills and understanding of accrual basis of accounting – Required
Strong sense of ownership, proactivity, and dedication to meeting deliverables across a wide range of functions – Required
Clear/Active FL Driver's License – Required
Experience in reporting, both verbally and in writing, to internal management, boards, and external agencies – Required
Proven analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills – Required
Professional communication style, both verbal and written – Required
Microsoft Office 365 with expertise in Excel (including Teams/Video Conferencing) – Required
Business intelligence and reporting experience (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos or similar platform) – Strongly Preferred but Not Required
Dedication to the organization's mission, standards, procedures and protocols – Required
Microsoft Office 365 skills (including Teams/Video Conferencing) and Electronic Medical Records experience – Strongly Preferred
Staying compliant on all trainings and immunizations – Required
Ability to pass Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting, Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check – Required
Physical Requirements
This position requires a mix of physical activities throughout the workday. Duties involve periods of standing, sitting, and walking, often across various areas of the site. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. A reasonable level of physical stamina and mobility is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
