Counseling: Adjunct Pool

Location: District Wide (must live within commuting distance to San Diego)
Position Type: Academic (part‑time/substitute)

Weekly Commitment: 15‑20 hours per week for 40 weeks per year (Spring, Fall, and an 8‑week Summer session)
Salary: Adjunct College Salary Schedule. Initial placement at first class/step until official transcripts received.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and expand partnerships with mental health providers, VA hospitals, county veterans service offices, and local/regional CSU and UC campus Veterans Resource Centers.
Provide direct mental health support through individual counseling, group therapy, case management, and resource development for student veterans.
Lead outreach, training, and program development to increase engagement of student veterans.
Develop and deliver Veteran Ally trainings for faculty, staff, and students.
Collaborate with the Mental Health Peer Educator Coordinator to hire, train, and supervise student veteran peer mentors.
Report program progress and outcomes to the Grant or Program Coordinator.
Work closely with campus partners to integrate veteran‑specific support services and participate in campus‑wide collaboration and training efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, family and child counseling, or equivalent.
Licensing: A license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) or equivalent license in the State of California (MSW, MFT, PCC, or Psychologist) is acceptable.
Bachelor’s degree in one of the listed majors with a California Marriage and Family Therapist license (alternative qualification).
Desired Qualifications
Licensed or licensed‑eligible in California with experience in counseling, case management, or similar roles; preference for veterans’ mental health focus.
Experience in outreach, training, and program development, especially with diverse or underserved populations; veteran‑related experience preferred.
Clinical or personal experience working with veterans and trauma‑related issues (PTSD, TBI, substance abuse, mood disorders).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage faculty, staff, and students.
Culturally competent care for veterans and diverse populations.
Strong organizational and administrative skills; ability to manage grant deadlines.
Experience with program oversight and peer‑led initiatives.
Tech proficiency for clinical software, case management, and reporting.
Data collection and reporting experience.
Ability to forge partnerships with community partners.
Professional liability insurance required.
Application Requirements and Conditions
Submit official college transcripts.
Provide Certificate of Tuberculosis Examination (renewable every 4 years).
Complete Live Scan fingerprinting and obtain required security clearances.
Present documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
Complete "Request for Equivalency" form if degree requirements not yet met.
