Overview The Real Estate Counsel will serve as an in-house legal resource, working closely with the executive team, investment professionals, and external counsel to manage and execute all aspects of transactional real estate work. This individual will play a key role in overseeing acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures, leasing matters, and corporate governance. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is comfortable balancing hands‑on execution with strategic legal guidance.

Base Pay Range $315,000.00/yr - $325,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of real estate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, JV agreements, loan documents, operating agreements, development agreements, and leases.

Manage legal aspects of acquisitions and dispositions from LOI through closing, including diligence, title/survey review, entity formation, and coordination with third parties.

Oversee financing transactions, including bridge loans, construction loans, refinancings, and credit facilities.

Support development projects by reviewing land use documents, construction contracts, easements, and related instruments.

Provide legal guidance on corporate structuring, entity governance, and compliance matters.

Coordinate with outside counsel on specialized matters while actively managing cost, scope, and timelines.

Maintain organized legal documentation, templates, and internal processes to support the firm’s growth.

Advise senior leadership on legal risks, deal structures, and negotiation strategies.

Stay current on relevant real estate, financing, and regulatory developments.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing with a U.S. state bar (NY/NJ/CA/TX preferred depending on location).

5–10+ years of experience in real estate transactional law, ideally with a mix of law firm and in‑house or developer/operator experience.

Strong background in acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures; development experience is a plus.

Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously.

Practical, business‑oriented mindset with the ability to propose solutions, not just identify risks.

Strong organizational skills and comfort operating in a lean, fast‑paced environment.

Team‑oriented, collaborative approach with the ability to work cross‑functionally.
