Southern California Edison (SCE) invites applications for the Components Standards Engineer 3 role. This full‑time position is based in Pomona, CA and supports SCE’s transmission, distribution, and substation initiatives.
Pay Range Base pay: $126,000–$189,000 per year.
Job Overview This role applies technical skills to develop and update design and construction standards aligned with SCE’s strategic direction. Responsibilities include maintaining standards, integrating new material, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring safety, reliability and sustainability of the grid.
Responsibilities
Resolve technical issues efficiently using available resources.
Supervise, lead, and coordinate work of full‑time and contract employees.
Conduct life‑cycle assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improve preventive maintenance procedures.
Conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Support audits and inspections; ensure compliance with relevant EH&S regulations.
Provide engineering expertise for high‑impact, complex, or cross‑functional problems.
Control the engineering facility design basis and maintain design basis documentation.
Plan and coordinate high‑impact complex projects with full technical responsibility.
Support and provide technical training to junior engineers.
Protect the company’s physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets; manage private customer data with highest standards of conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related scientific/technical/math field.
Five or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
Valid Class C Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as an engineer in an electric utility.
Strong knowledge of distribution, transmission or substation systems.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Results‑oriented, team‑oriented, and stays current with relevant technology and innovation.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal customers, peers, and senior management.
Additional Information
Hybrid work mode: employees will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on remaining days, subject to business needs. Employees are required to work and reside in California.
Qualified applications with arrest or conviction records will be considered under the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance and California Fair Chance Act.
Position may require up to 25% travel within the SCE service territory.
