Senior Corporate Counsel – Education Client Contracting Team
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina | Salary: $130,000 – $140,000 | Employment type: Full‑time | Seniority: Mid‑Senior level
Overview As part of the Education Client Contracting Team, the Senior Corporate Counsel will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and managing a broad range of commercial agreements, ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and supporting business objectives.
Responsibilities
Draft, negotiate, and review commercial agreements including dining services agreements, retail food agreements, facility services agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and consulting agreements.
Implement contract strategies that optimize terms and conditions, reduce risk, and achieve favorable financial and operational outcomes.
Collaborate with legal teams, finance, and business development to ensure contracts support organizational goals and mitigate risks.
Build and maintain relationships with vendors, partners, and stakeholders for smooth contract execution and issue resolution.
Provide sound legal advice and counsel to Managing Legal Counsel and internal clients on strategies, actions, and decisions related to all commercial transactions.
Manage assignments independently, communicate proactively with supervising counsel, and deliver complete, accurate work within agreed timelines.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a contracts attorney, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm with a focus on contract law.
Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees required, as well as a state bar license.
Familiarity with the food service industry a plus.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Practical business‑oriented approach and can‑do attitude.
Excellent problem‑solving and strong organizational, presentation, analytical and drafting skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions.
Self‑starter able to identify and analyze diverse contractual issues and effectively communicate conclusions to business management.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
Attention to detail: strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to review contracts meticulously and identify potential issues or discrepancies.
