Description
The Head Irrigation Foreman oversees all irrigation operations across the Revere Golf Club, ensuring precise water distribution, system reliability, and optimal turf conditions on both 18-hole courses. This position leads all irrigation monitoring, diagnostics, repairs, and efficiency planning. The role partners closely with the Superintendent and Director of Agronomy to meet water management standards, SNWA compliance requirements, and long-range infrastructure goals. Key Responsibilities
Irrigation System Oversight Operate, monitor, and adjust the central irrigation system to achieve accurate and efficient water application. Perform daily system reviews including run logs, water usage reports, station performance, and pump efficiency. Inspect and adjust sprinkler heads, valves, controllers, sensors, and regulators to maintain uniform coverage and proper functionality. Diagnose and repair electrical faults, low pressure zones, clogged nozzles, leaks, and hydraulic issues. Monthly Irrigation Inspection Program Develop and execute a structured monthly irrigation audit that covers every sprinkler head, valve assembly, lateral line, and associated component on the property. Document performance for each zone including arc settings, nozzle condition, rotation uniformity, pressure issues, leaks, and coverage gaps. Create a monthly punch list of required repairs, nozzle replacements, head leveling, swing joint adjustments, and wiring corrections. Track trends such as chronic dry spots, wet areas, or recurrent failures to build long-term repair and replacement plans. Present a monthly irrigation report to the Superintendent and Director of Agronomy that includes completed repairs, outstanding items, proposed improvements, and water usage insights. Ensure that all monthly checks align with SNWA water rules and Revere’s annual water budget. Maintenance and Repair Conduct routine and emergency repairs on heads, rotors, valves, solenoids, lateral lines, mainlines, wiring, pressure regulation components, and pump systems. Manage wet wells, intake screens, filters, and booster equipment for peak reliability. Complete seasonal tasks such as flushing, winterization, spring startup, and large-area audits before overseeding. Leadership and Staff Oversight Supervise and train irrigation technicians and assigned maintenance staff. Assign daily and weekly irrigation tasks with clear expectations for quality. Train staff on central control software, repair methods, troubleshooting, water-use best practices, and safety procedures. Water Management and Compliance Monitor water quality, flow rates, SNWA allocations, and irrigation scheduling to support conservation objectives. Ensure compliance with all water restrictions, drought plans, and Revere’s water management policies. Collaborate with leadership to design system improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce consumption. Recordkeeping and Reporting Maintain detailed logs of nightly adjustments, hand-watering hours, repairs, parts used, and system performance metrics. Provide daily and weekly updates to the Superintendent and Director of Agronomy. Assist with budgeting for irrigation parts and long-term capital improvements. Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of irrigation experience in golf course operations, multi-course preferred Strong knowledge of irrigation systems (Toro or Rain Bird), hydraulics, pump station operations, and central control software. Ability to read as-builts, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and pressure maps. Demonstrated leadership experience directing small teams. Strong diagnostics and problem solving skills. Ability to work outdoors in varied conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Valid driver’s license required. IA, GCSAA, or irrigation-related certifications preferred. Must pass E-Verify
