Base pay range
$100,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr
Seeking a Tax Manager (CPA) with 5–7 years of experience in tax preparation and review, bookkeeping oversight, and client‑facing service. This full‑time, on‑site role in our Chicago office requires the ability to independently manage a client portfolio and lead tax engagements with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Review a variety of tax returns prepared by staff (1040, Schedule C, 1065, 1120, 990, 1041, etc.)
Sign and submit accurate tax filings to federal and state agencies
Serve as the primary client contact, addressing tax questions and recommending next steps
Hire, train, and support accounting and administrative staff
Partner with leadership on process improvements, technology enhancements, and workflow efficiency
Stay current on tax laws and regulatory changes
Provide proactive tax guidance and develop strategies to optimize client outcomes
Collaborate with the office team to ensure accuracy and strong client service
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Active CPA license (Illinois or reciprocal)
Strong expertise in tax compliance, preparation, and planning
Solid understanding of federal and state tax regulations
Experience with professional tax and practice management software
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong collaborative and communication skills
