Base pay range $225,000.00/yr - $260,000.00/yr
Our client, a small but mighty manufacturing and distribution company, is seeking a Head of Finance. This role requires a strategic, hands‑on leader who is capable of managing investor relations, establishing scalable financial processes, and ensuring strict adherence to all applicable regulations. The Head of Finance partners closely with the CEO, the leadership team, investors, and vendors to drive business growth, secure capital, and optimize financial performance, while building and leading a high‑performing finance and accounting team.
What you will do
Develop and execute financial strategies to support rapid growth, operational scalability, and long‑term sustainability. Advise the CEO and executive team on strategic financial decisions, including capital allocation, investments, and expansion opportunities. Establish and implement financial systems, controls, and reporting processes suitable for a start‑up environment.
Serve as the secondary liaison for current and prospective investors, providing accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasts, and strategic insights. Support fundraising initiatives, including preparation for equity or debt financing rounds, due diligence, and investor communications. Manage relationships with financial partners, lenders, and other capital sources.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planning, accounting for start‑up growth variables and market dynamics. Deliver actionable insights through financial analysis to guide decision‑making across operations, sales, and supply chain. Monitor KPIs, including cash burn, revenue growth, gross margins, and operational efficiency.
Oversee all accounting and reporting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial statements. Implement internal controls and risk management protocols suitable for a rapidly scaling business.
Ensure all banking, cash, and electronic payment processes adhere to applicable laws and financial best practices.
Negotiate and manage relationships with suppliers, distributors, and key vendors, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and timely payment cycles. Collaborate with operations to optimize procurement, inventory management, and supply chain financial performance.
Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, regulatory, and operational risks specific to the cannabis start‑up environment. Maintain insurance coverage and regulatory compliance across financial and operational functions.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance executive in start‑ups or high‑growth companies.
Expertise in investor relations, fundraising, and capital management.
Strong understanding of start‑up financial planning, forecasting, and reporting.
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills with executives, investors, and vendors.
Experience building finance teams and scalable systems from the ground up.
Advanced degree in finance, accounting, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred).
