This position will build the organization's capacity to further develop, implement, and sustain its college preparation program for low-income youth and their families. The College Readiness VISTA will research resources that will help aid and guide students through the college preparation process—from taking college entry exams to committing to a school. The VISTA will also gather resources that will allow families to support their youth. This position is about educating both youth and their adult support system.
Member Duties
Research data and best practices in preparing youth for college
Develop materials that can be used to inform and educate families about the college application and admissions process
Explore programming needs, including staffing, space, materials, and other resources to better understand the program budget
Identify potential federal, state, county, and philanthropic funding sources that would support the initial implementation and long-term sustainability of the program
Create protocol for college campus visits that include applicants and families
Develop curriculum with benchmarks that can be applied to high school juniors and seniors exploring post-graduation options at colleges and universities
Create system for tracking individual and program-wide outcomes
