The Role We are seeking an experienced
Sales Engineer – Data
to own the technical success of our customers' pre‑sales evaluations and initial deployments. This is a highly technical, customer‑facing role requiring deep expertise in modern data stacks, exceptional presentation skills, and a passion for solving complex data challenges in a sales context.
Responsibilities
Lead the technical discovery and qualification process, presenting Altimate AI's platform capabilities and value proposition to prospective customers.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for key accounts during the sales cycle, translating customer needs into clear, technical solutions and proof‑of‑concept requirements.
Develop custom scripts, integrations, and demos using SQL to showcase the capabilities of our platform and ensure seamless operation within customer ecosystems.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues during evaluations and proofs‑of‑concept related to data connectivity, performance, and workflow integration.
Contribute to the core product by identifying common sales blockers and integration patterns to provide feedback to the product and engineering teams.
Conduct technical workshops and provide expert guidance on data best practices, leveraging tools like Snowflake, Databricks, and dbt.
Must have
4+ years of relevant technical Sales Engineering experience
Strong SQL proficiency
Deep understanding and experience with the modern data stack, including:
Data Warehouses/Lakes (Snowflake, Databricks, or similar)
Data Transformation/Modeling (DBT)
Workflow Orchestration (Airflow or similar)
Python Notebooks
Experience running product pre‑sale demos and POCs
Comfortable navigating modern data development environments, including Git‑based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools) used in data engineering and analytics.
Preferred Skills
Pre‑Sales Solutions Architect, or similar pre‑sales technical role for a B2B SaaS product.
Familiarity with Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Observability principles.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
