Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly Reports to: Preschool Teacher Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Vacation, Paid Holidays.
Position Details
This is considered Seasonal Full-Time, with an approximate start date in April and running through December, including some downtime during the off-peak period.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist Teacher with planning and conducting classroom instructional activities that encourage growth of language, social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and communication skills.
Assist in daily health checks and developmental screenings, and in implementing IEPs and IFSPs.
Monitor individual children’s progress and supervise classroom activities in the absence of the Teacher.
Maintain records, documents, reports, and reviews.
Stay current on educational practices, techniques, and objectives.
Help develop and maintain dual language in the classroom.
Assist in preparing children for kindergarten transition.
Help maintain a safe, supportive learning environment and provide children with developmental opportunities.
Help establish and enforce age-appropriate rules, involving children in rule-setting.
Manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and remain calm under pressure.
May perform duties as bus monitor after training.
Maintain confidentiality of clients and records.
Perform duties in accordance with CC Idaho policies and Head Start standards.
Qualifications Required
High school Diploma or GED
Preschool Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or enrolled in a CDA program, or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education.
Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
Pass physical, background checks, and state daycare clearance.
Obtain TB clearance, First Aid, and CPR certification.
Preferred
Ability to read, speak, and write in both English and Spanish.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and smell frequently.
Must lift/move up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment
Office or classroom setting, with potential exposure to electrical shock, fumes, or airborne particles. Moderate to high noise levels.
