We combine comprehensive expertise, experience, and analytics to deliver data-driven, innovative approaches to help hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, and other providers tackle their most complex problems. We have assessed and implemented nearly $1 billion in cost savings and revenue improvement for our diverse set of clients over the last ten years. BRG’s Healthcare Performance Improvement practice is currently seeking a Consultant to join their Workforce team, with a special focus on benchmarking. The Consultant position is an experienced entry-level staff position responsible for analyzing and comparing an organization's performance against industry standards and leading practices to identify areas for improvement. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of healthcare operations, and the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations. This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with strong analytical ability, and a desire to advance within the organization. The work of a Consultant will be qualitative or quantitative in nature, and projects range from industry and subject matter research to data collection to the preparation of statistical, financial, and other forms of analysis. The Consultant will also be client-facing and able to effectively present findings and answer questions. The Consultant will interact regularly with BRG subject matter experts to review findings and challenge assumptions. Job Responsibilities Gather, integrate, and analyze data from multiple sources, e.g., payroll, HRIS, and Revenue & Usage Calculate high-level hospital metrics, e.g. adjusted patient days, adjusted discharges, FTEs per Adjusted Occupied Beds (AOB), Salary Wages and Benefits as a percent of Net Operating Revenue Develop custom compare groups from our benchmarking service based on various factors, e.g., bed size, case mix index, and teaching status Incorporate hospital data into a benchmarking database to identify variances from benchmarks vs. compare groups Utilize the DRM (department reference manual) to identify normalizations required to better explain benchmark variance Lead discussions BRG subject matter experts on finalizing benchmarks Co-lead client meetings to present results and answer questions Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods and computer models to present results Audit own work product and work product of others to assure quality Participate in a team environment and work hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills Participate in group practice meetings and travel as needed Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the areas of economics, finance, accounting, statistics, econometrics, or other related subject area is required 4-6 years of prior work experience working directly in healthcare benchmarking is required Strong familiarity and experience with benchmarking products, such as Vizient ODB, Syntellis, or Premier, is required Working knowledge of hospital operations Proven capability with MS Excel and/or other analytical software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Stata, MS Access, MS SQL Server). A desire to expand those capabilities is required Travel up to 25% is required About BRG
