Magic Cabinet ("MC") is a philanthropic foundation that seeks to fundamentally redefine how philanthropy and nonprofits partner for sustainable and thriving communities. We’re looking for an Senior Program Officer - Innovation to develop and refine the ongoing implementation and iteration of our Community Grantmaking. Reporting to Magic Cabinet’s Co-Program Director, theSenior Program Officer - Innovation collaborates with the foundation team to transform strategy and systems into amplified impact.

Your role as Senior Program Officer - Innovation The Senior Program Officer (Innovation) works closely with the Program Team to advance our mission to shift philanthropy to center the needs and priorities of community-serving nonprofits. The Senior Program Officer (Innovation) will ensure Magic Cabinet’s Community Grantmaking is aligned with our values and informed by trust-based philanthropy principles; manage, develop and refine the ongoing implementation and iteration of Community Grantmaking; and contribute to developing and implementing systems and processes in support of Innovation and Design efforts. This role will collaborate on a regular basis with our Innovation and Design teams. Senior Program Officer - Innovation responsibilities include: Community Grantmaking Management Lead and support implementation and refinement of standard grantmaking practices, in assigned areas Create, maintain, and contribute to documentation, processes, and systems related to Magic Cabinet’s grantmaking approach Facilitate project tracking, meetings, and discussions and provide proactive communication and updates Ensure efforts are informed by data and insights and aligned with strategic priorities Ensure matters with nonprofit and community partners are prioritized and addressed appropriately Support the implementation, development and refinement of systems to capture Community Grantmaking data and activities to support tracking, storytelling, reporting, refinement and continuous learning Steward and partner with Magic Cabinet team members on the development and implementation of events, educational, and technical assistance resources for nonprofit partners Support direct grantmaking and provide support to nonprofits with any assigned cohorts to ensure their continued success. Build and maintain relationships with peer funders, philanthropy professionals, other community members, and philanthropically-minded organizations People Management & Leadership Supervise, manage, train and coach assigned program staff (between 3-4 staff) Model strong leadership and collaboration skills standards Implement staff performance management processes and support professional and staff development Help plan and lead program team and other cross-team meetings Cross-Team Collaboration and Support Collaborate with Co-Program Directors to identify and coordinate subject matter expertise on Magic Cabinet’s grantmaking approach, including the engagement, advisory committee, and cohort models. Contribute to and coordinate staff to support Innovation and Design-led efforts, including coordinating program team representation and input, facilitating collaboration, identifying existing processes, documentation, and information, and participating in internal processes and project efforts Coordinate collaboration with Innovation and Design teams in support of Community Grantmaking. Support efforts to define and articulate needs and problems and ensure the use of data and research in defining solutions Collaborate with internal teams as efforts require, including Operations, Philanthropic Solutions, Research, Design, and Communications teams. Advancement, Continuous Learning, and Knowledge Sharing Seek opportunities to learn from and share new philanthropic approaches, models, and best/promising practices. Actively seek opportunities to learn and share innovative philanthropic strategies, models, and best practices. Regularly share successes and challenges among the team to inform work and the team’s continuous learning and improvement. Regularly communicate successes and challenges within the team to foster continuous learning and improvement Present at conferences, workshops, and other community events to share the Magic Cabinet model, approach, and values, as well as highlight nonprofit partners’ work and impact. Attend and participate as needed in select Magic Cabinet board meetings, retreats, donor and cultivation events as ambassadors of nonprofit partners and Magic Cabinet. Administrative Duties Strong knowledge of cloud-based software products, including spreadsheets, presentation software, design tools(what do you mean by this), project management tools, video conferencing, survey administration, and collaborative documents. Actively Participates in internal meetings and training. Actively Participates in self- and peer-review processes. Supports understanding and partnership in budget management systems and procedures, including such as expense tracking and documentation. Miscellaneous Staff members may be asked to take on special projects or additional tasks as assigned. You are well qualified if you have/are: 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, or related fields. At least 3 years of experience supervising staff and managing cross-functional projects or programs. Expertise in grantmaking, including due diligence, grant monitoring, and learning. Demonstrated ability to build trust-based, collaborative relationships with diverse communities. Exceptional project management and organizational skills. Familiarity with data and evaluation tools for tracking program outcomes. Experience with implementing cross-team systems and processes. Strong communication skills—written, verbal, and facilitation. High degree of emotional intelligence with an awareness of societal and personal bias; comfortable engaging in dialogue surrounding its presence, and committed to dismantling its influence Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, resourcefulness, enthusiasm, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a team effort. The ability to commit to travel to our regional locations, minimum of 2 trips a year, and periodic travel for conferences and other purposes. Preferred: Experience designing and implementing trust-based or participatory grantmaking practices. Knowledge of capacity building, organizational development, or network strengthening approaches. Prior experience working in multi-site or hybrid work environments. Employee must: be able to move equipment up to 25 pounds. be able to work a flexible schedule for occasional events on evenings and/or weekends. be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time at home office or events. have the ability to operate standard office equipment. have a valid drivers license. travel on occasion, both locally and to other state(s).
