Job Title: Youth Sports Coach
Position Type:
Part-time/Seasonal Reports to:
Youth Sports Coordinator Location:
Positions available at both Southeast and Northwest Ys.
Position Summary: The Youth Sports Coach plays a key role in promoting the mission and values of the Monroe County YMCA by fostering a fun, safe, and inclusive sports environment for youth participants. The coach will lead practices, teach sport-specific skills, encourage teamwork, and promote character development through positive mentorship. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about youth development and community engagement. Key Responsibilities: Plan and lead age-appropriate practices and games in accordance with the sport’s guidelines and the organization’s values Foster an inclusive, supportive, and encouraging team environment for all participants Teach fundamental skills, strategies, and rules of the sport with a focus on safety, sportsmanship, and enjoyment Serve as a positive role model and mentor to youth, promoting values such as honesty, caring, respect, and teamwork Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants during activities Collaborate with other coaches, volunteers, and staff to support the overall success of the program Attend all required training sessions and organizational meetings Maintain equipment and facilities in a clean and safe condition Qualifications: Prior experience coaching or working with children in a sports or recreational setting preferred Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to motivate and inspire youth from diverse backgrounds Must be CPR/First Aid certified within 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualities: Knowledge of the rules and techniques of sports offered by the YMCA Passion for youth development and community service Commitment to the mission of the non-profit organization Flexible and able to adapt to different coaching scenarios and participant needs Working Conditions: Must work evening and weekend hours required by program schedule Requires physical activity including standing, running, and demonstrating sports techniques May take place indoors or outdoors, depending on the season and facility availability COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION:
