Due to the growth plans of the firm, BCLP is looking to expand its global lateral partner recruitment team with a specialist. This position will work with the Director of Lateral Partner Recruiting and the Associate Director of Lateral Partner Recruiting and join an advisory and execution team that supports the leadership team in attracting, identifying, recruiting and on‑boarding lateral partner talent.

The Specialist will work with the Leadership Team, Practice Group Leaders, Sector Leaders and Office Managing Partners to recruit lateral partner candidates who fit with the firm’s growth plans and cultural expectations. This role combines a thoughtful and strategic approach with smart recruitment and commercial skills and will be a key advisor to the wider leadership team across the Firm.

This role will advise the Director and Associate Director on the most impactful and cost‑effective routes to market and coordinate and help ensure smooth processes covering offer letters, background checks, on‑boarding and integration into the business.

Responsibilities

  • Help ensure the highest quality candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
  • Liaise with our legal search firms regarding candidates in process.
  • Help oversee the lateral partner candidate pipeline, including circulation of candidate bios, scheduling interviews and collecting feedback.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by understanding the internal and external talent landscape and coach both the practice groups and candidates to a successful conclusion. Integrate competitive intelligence into recruitment strategies, leveraging hiring trends, movement of key competitors and geographic markets when planning. Build trust and effectively handle relationships with candidates and senior internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct candidate research using firm and other research tools to create target lists for Practice Group Leaders, Sector Leaders and Office Managing Partners.
  • Create tailored scripts for direct outreach to candidates.
  • Ensure we adhere and manage a globally consistent recruitment, assessment and due diligence/client reference checks process so that we can measure and track talent.
  • Manage VI to ensure data is recorded accurately and timely.
  • Assist with the management of recruitment related trackers and tracking of relevant information.
  • Maintain lateral partner recruiting analytics.

Skills and experience required

  • Demonstrable experience in executive search with a proven track record of successful hiring will be advantageous, with a focus on outstanding candidate and client experience.
  • A deep knowledge of the legal sector and the talent landscape is advantageous.
  • Strong business acumen, intellect, judgment and communication/advisory skills.
  • Ability to think outside the box and produce new methodologies for attracting, analyzing and assessing talent.
  • Strong governance and risk and control mind‑set is critical.
  • Ability to utilize VIRecruit and other VI software and databases.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with both internal and external clients on all levels.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and follow instructions.
  • Ability to be flexible, handle pressure and adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Ability to professionally represent and promote the Firm.
  • Ability to work effectively with department members, lawyers and other law firm professionals.
  • Respects and maintains confidentiality of all candidates.
  • Highly motivated, flexible, energetic, persistent, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and provide status updates, as appropriate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Proficient use of the suite of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, experience with Leopard Solutions and VIRecruit preferred.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in a law firm or other professional services firm required.

Pursuant to Illinois and New York pay transparency laws, BCLP is posting a reasonable estimate of a compensation range for this position. At the time of posting, the estimated Chicago range is $70,000 to $100,000, and the New York range is $80,000 to $110,000. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to the level of relevant experience, skill sets, training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, market data, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. The range is based on a full‑time work schedule. Additional compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
