The Role
Educe is seeking a proactive, detail‑oriented HR Generalist to support the full employee lifecycle in a small professional services and technology consulting firm. The role provides day‑to‑day HR operations support across recruiting, onboarding, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, culture initiatives, and employee relations. The HR Generalist will collaborate closely with employees, managers, and leadership, and will play an essential role in ensuring an exceptional employee experience. This is a hybrid position, 2–3 days a week, at our Bethesda, MD headquarters.
Responsibilities
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Partner with HR team members and hiring managers to support the entire recruiting and onboarding lifecycle.
- Organize and manage annual college career fairs and campus recruiting events.
- Facilitate a smooth new‑hire experience, including offer letters, background checks, onboarding activities, and in‑person New Hire Bootcamps.
Employee Lifecycle & HR Operations
- Maintain accurate employee records across HRIS, payroll, benefits, and other internal systems.
- Serve as first point of contact for HR questions.
- Coordinate employee separations, exit interviews, and offboarding checklists.
Benefits Administration
- Manage, oversee, and execute all benefits administration responsibilities, including open enrollment and vendor coordination.
- Assist employees with benefits elections and general inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with all benefits‑related regulations and reporting.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain and update HR policies and the employee handbook.
- Support audits, filings, and required reporting.
Performance & Development
- Support performance review cycles, including reminders, tracking, and documentation.
- Assist with coordinating internal training, learning programs, and professional development resources.
Culture & Engagement
- Plan and manage employee engagement activities and culture‑building initiatives.
- Assist with annual employee engagement surveys and top workplace award applications.
- Analyze data from employee surveys and other sources to monitor engagement trends and suggest improvements.
Projects & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline HR processes.
- Support implementation of new tools, systems, and AI‑powered HR workflows.
- Participate in cross‑functional or HR‑led strategic projects.
Qualifications
Required
- HR experience in generalist, coordinator, or HR operations roles.
- Working knowledge of HR best practices and employment law.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer‑service mindset.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Comfort working in remote and hybrid work environments.
Preferred
- Experience working in a small organization and wearing many hats.
- Experience in professional services, consulting, or technology environments.
- Familiarity with HRIS/ATS platforms (ADP WorkforceNow and Cornerstone OnDemand experience a plus).
- Experience supporting multi‑state employment compliance.
- Interest in or experience with AI‑assisted HR processes.
- SHRM‑CP or PHR certification a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Requirements
- Ability to travel to semi‑annual firm meetings and occasional events such as career fairs and new hire onboarding events.

Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000. The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
