Their Hawaii Island team in particular manages multi-phase hospitality renovations, commercial upgrades, and ground-up vertical projects that require tight coordination, clear communication, and field-first problem-solving. About the Role

My client is seeking a

Construction Project Engineer

to support commercial and hospitality building projects on Hawaii Island. Active work includes multi-floor hotel renovations, room refresh programs, tenant improvements, and commercial building upgrades—projects that mirror the complexity, pace, and operational sensitivity seen in large resort and facility renovations statewide. This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys being close to the work, supporting field teams, and taking ownership of engineering and coordination tasks that keep projects moving. Key Responsibilities

Review, track, and process RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, daily reports, and change orders.

Support Superintendents and Project Managers with day-to-day coordination needs.

Assist with subcontractor scheduling, logistics planning, and site sequencing.

Help maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.

Perform quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, and procurement support.

Maintain QA/QC documentation, testing logs, and inspection records.

Communicate with owners, architects, and design teams to resolve field conflicts and clarify scope.

Interpret drawings and specifications and help ensure alignment in the field.

Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture on job sites.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or completion of a Construction Management certificate program.

3–6 years of vertical or commercial construction experience , ideally in hospitality, retail, healthcare, or similar.

Strong understanding of construction workflows, document control, and project communication.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam; familiarity with P6 or MS Project is a plus.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project phasing.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Prior Hawai‘i construction experience strongly valued;

Big Island candidates preferred.
