Primary Function

As the leader of a project team, the Senior SubstationEngineer performs engineering and design duties and organizes all activities required for the development and implementation of high‑voltage electrical substation projects across a multidisciplinary team. He/she drives project schedules and budgets for multiple projects and acts as a company contact for clients and vendors. Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure that projects are managed to meet project quality, schedule, and profitability objectives. Supervise and coordinate all project activities to ensure on‑time completion. Assign tasks to project design team based on project needs. Work with project team to create or modify all design documents. Ensure project team uses project‑specific standards and that the design effort progresses efficiently. Develop one‑line diagrams, electrical plans, and specifications for a project. Apply engineering application software to complete tasks such as ground‑grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, load flow, and short‑circuit studies. Perform engineering and design functions as necessary to meet project schedules. Communicate and coordinate project activities with customer representatives, project team, and management. Prepare, coordinate, and track project schedules and budgets and ensure projects remain within allotted budgets and schedules, addressing deviations with management. Ensure project team applies engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI. Properly use the document management system. Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work. Bring potential project‑related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
