Salary Range ($ 89,000 - $ 118,600 ) - Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short–term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:

The Valliant is a 5,000+ ton per day containerboard mill with 3 paper machines, 3 continuous digesters, 3 secondary Fiber plants and an Energy/Chemical Recovery complex composed of three primary boilers for steam generation (Recovery, Power, Bark), Turbine Generator, Evaporators, Recaust Plant, and waste water treatment system. It currently operates with over 300 mill employees, 150 contract maintenance employees, and 150 other contractors in a results oriented environment.

This position reports to the Electrical Reliability Engineering Manager, Valliant Mill. This person will be responsible for most Electrical and Instrumentation aspects within the assigned department. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and supports mill manufacturing.

Key Functions

(include but not limited to):

Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results

Work with operations and maintenance teams to implement strategic maintenance initiatives that support achievement of reliability objectives, key performance metrics, and maintenance cost objectives and capital projects execution.

Drive continuous improvement through positive influence, IP best practices, FMEA, and RCFA.

RCFA facilitation by leading a group to quickly and thoroughly identify and solve latent causes.

Responsible for ensuring projects are compliant with NFPA 70E safety requirements.

Maintains current gap analysis against IP Corporate guidelines.

Provides electrical and instrumentation (E&I) design support to the maintenance department and capital engineering department.

Provides technical assistance and advice as necessary to aid in troubleshooting complex issues in manufacturing processes.

Develop plan for obsolete electrical equipment

Monitor effectiveness of E&I predictive and preventative maintenance programs.

Build effective systems and materials such as operating procedures (SOP), troubleshooting documents (TCC), and other training materials.

Rotate with other leaders to provide electrical Weekend Duty support.

Attend area operations and shutdown meetings

Responsible for entire area’s E/I equipment (5vDC to 13.8kV)

Create maintenance strategies for E/I equipment

Expected to learn about motors, electrical power distribution, drives, instrumentation, and control systems

The Skills You Will Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment

Minimum of three (3) years of electrical engineering experience

Strong computer skills including proficiency with AutoCAD and all Microsoft Office applications

Experience with ETAP power system modeling software is preferred

Experience in the pulp and paper industry is preferred

Excellent leadership skills

Proven commitment to safety and safety processes

Strong technical foundation in electrical engineering

High level of initiative and motivation

Strong communication skills (oral & written)

Able to work independently and excel with minimum supervision
